Simply put, longevity means life expectancy. Lifespans vary, and it’s clear that there are numerous factors that influence longevity and the rate of aging within the lifespan. Although some effects may be uncontrollable, microcirculation is a protective step that can be taken to potentially increase longevity.
Why Do Some Have Decreased Longevity?
Exposure to toxins: Elements like sugar, caffeine, and nicotine are toxic to the body, and may not be filtered out (by way of the liver and kidneys) right away.
Physical activity & restricted mobility: Obesity can lead to a myriad of different diseases and challenges.
Modern life stress: The “flight, fight, or freeze” response can throw the body out of balance and wear it down.

The cost of stress on function and longevity:
Frequent stress can affect all systems of the body, including the immune, reproductive, and cardiovascular systems. Significantly, it can also negatively impact the nervous system. When stuck in a “fight, flight, or freeze” response, the brain remains in a sympathetic state and, as a result, has less capacity to function well in day-to-day life. Physical and mental stress may therefore inhibit individual growth and progress, which, overall, can influence longevity. However, enhanced microcirculation can help put the body back into homeostasis by balancing the excess amounts of adrenaline and cortisol associated with the “fight flight or freeze” response. Additionally, the parasympathetic state (one of relaxation and rest) is more likely to become activated. Therefore, through enhanced microcirculation, the body is at lower risk of the adverse aging effects that are correlated with stress.
